Vehicle sale fraud racket uncovered in Mallorca

Vehicle sale fraud racket uncovered in Mallorca: "TWO individuals have been arrested and a further 17 under suspicion of fraudulently using government grants available to buy cars and sell them on.
They are said to have taken advantage of the fact that the government awards 2,000 euros towards the purchase of a new car when an old one is scrapped by putting old cars in the name of customers who came to buy newly-registered ones.
The accused parties had allegedly bought these second-hand cars from scrapyards, and would then put them back in the name of the dealer in question before scrapping them again.
This involved forging national identity cards, many of which were found during raids on motor dealerships in Palma, Inca and Manacor (Mallorca)."
